Unloading containers
Boom conveyor with DroopSnoot articulating head
Emptying more than 300 containers each year is something
of a challenge. Especially when the goods are
loose-loaded to ensure that every square centimeter of the
container is utilized to its utmost. Soestrene Grene, a retail chain in Denmark, have installed a four section Caljan BeltTrack fitted with DroopSnoot – shown above. The boom conveyor runs on rails so that it can traverse from door to door as containers are unloaded at a distribution centre.

In principle, the DroopSnoot articulating head is a 1.5 m section mounted at the head of the boom. Equipped with a standard control panel, the operator is able to use the joystick to elevate the DroopSnoot to an appropriate position, enabling the goods to be loaded/unloaded ergonomically.
With an extendability
of 14.7 metres, the telescopic boom conveyor reaches into
all types of container and truck. A droop snoot articulating head fitted to
the head of the conveyor enables the operator to adjust
the height of the belt to suit, so that unnecessary lifting is
avoided.
When the conveyor is not in use, the DroopSnoot articulating head can be stored in an upright position.
Making difficult unit loads easy to handle
A joystick control ensures that the angle of the droop snoot articulate head is optimal, so that heavy boxes can be tipped onto the conveyor with a minimum of effort. The droop snoot is particularly useful when loading/unloading sacks or in trucks with different floor heights.
